The fit is pretty true to size - but keep in mind these are a junior cut — so they are tighter in the sleeves and chest. The cut of these shirts is definitely a slim fit compared to a cotton or 50/50 T-shirt. So, if you like your t-shirts to fit loose, we suggest to order a size up. We’ve washed our t-shirts multiple times with no shrinking.

Below we've listed size charts for all three t-shirts.

Why use Kinnakeet vs. Avon?

We've had a few people unsure of why we chose to use the name "Kinnakeet" instead of "Avon" in The Villages T-shirt. We wanted to answer that because it was intentional in our design.

Avon was traditionally named Kinnakeet Village. In 1883 the USPS renamed it Avon. The original name, Kinnakeet is Algonquin and means “that which is mixed.” It is thought that the village was called Kinnakeet because it consisted of several settlements closely bunched together. Even though the name of the village was changed “officially,” unofficially, even over a century later, locals - from old-timers to children- born + bred Islanders to “transplants” - often use “Kinnakeet” to refer to Avon village in everyday speech, specifically the heart of Avon village where most locals live.

Keeping Kinnakeet as its original name was important to us because it’s what Daniel grew up on Hatteras hearing and using, and we wanted to keep that authentic.

Others have asked, why not use the original names for the other villages, and it’s pretty simple, those names aren’t used often in everyday speech. The new names stuck and that’s why we stuck with them.
